Yesterday was the first day of the London Book Fair, and it was a wonderful, buzzy, bookish atmosphere. There was a great talk on how to publish your book on Kindle Direct, and I was thrilled to see my book of short stories, The Wind on his Back, on display at Matador’s stand.  (I posted a picture on my Instagram account, so have a look). When I was growing up and wanting to be a writer, the options were seriously limited. There was either Vanity Publishing, (a major no-no) or there was Traditional Publishingwhich was the thing to aspire for. With the age old saying in mind, ‘everyone has one book in them’, I think it’s fantastic that publishing that book has become so much easier. Options abound – the difficulty comes in selecting the path ahead for you. If you’re not very tech savvy (like me), finding a company to help you with that side of things is easy these days. There are lots of them out there – I’ve recently started ghostwriting for StoryTerrace, a company that makes it really easy for people to get their book down on paper. On the other hand, it’s also good to keep pushing ahead and empowering ourselves. So my task for this week is to get to grips with Kindle Direct Publishing…all advice welcome! And I will share any pearls of wisdom in due course…
